Bolt: Track the true cost of maintaining your fleet

Bolt Job Cost Summary UI Understanding what it costs to keep your machinery running is one of the most valuable things you can do for your operation — whether you're deciding when to repair vs. replace a machine, budgeting for the season ahead, or simply making sure your team's time and parts are being accounted for.

This release builds on our recent part list update and introduces parts, labour and cost tracking across jobs, giving you a clear picture of what each service is really costing you.

Service Tasks

To give your team starting point, we've pre-loaded a set of common service tasks into every Bolt account. You can manage this list from the Setup / Service Tasks page and add your own tasks to build a comprehensive list of common tasks for your fleet.

Service tasks can be added to any job, giving you a structured way to record exactly what work was carried out. Notes can also be added to each service task, giving you extra context on happened on any given job.

Labour Tracking

You can now record labour hours for each employee directly on a job.

  • Set a default hourly rate for each employee from the Setup / Employees page.
  • Add labour to the whole job, or against a specific service task.
  • Labour cost is automatically calculated and rolled up to the job total.

Parts Tracking

Building on the parts list introduced in our last update, you can now record parts used against each job.

  • Set a default cost for each part from the Setup / Parts page.
  • Associate parts with the whole job or a specific service task.
  • Parts cost is automatically included in the job total.

Job Cost Rollup

Every job now shows a cost summary, broken down by parts, labour and overall cost.

New and Updated Reports

Two reports have been updated to reflect these changes:

  • Jobs Report — now includes labour cost, parts cost and total cost per job. Available from the Reports page.
  • Service Tasks Report — a new report that shows every service task completed across your fleet, including the labour and parts cost associated with each one.

Why this matters

Tracking the cost of maintaining each machine over time gives you something genuinely useful: data to make better decisions. When you can see that an ageing header is consistently racking up repair bills — in labour hours, parts, or both — the case for renewal becomes a lot clearer than gut feel alone.

Combined with the purchase price, current market value and meter readings already available in Bolt, you're building a complete picture of each machine's cost of ownership. That's the kind of visibility that pays for itself.
